How will I be affected if I’m in a potential annexation area?

You are not affected at this time. Being in a potential annexation area does not mean your property has been annexed or that any changes to your property have been approved.

The City is currently studying whether annexation may be appropriate in the future. If the City ultimately moves forward with annexation and your property is included, your property would become part of the City of Dixon. At that point, City rules and requirements could apply, including those related to land use, zoning, development, permits, services, fees and taxes.

An SOI (Sphere of Influence) is simply a planning boundary that identifies areas that could potentially become part of the City in the future. Being within the SOI does not mean your property will be annexed.
